Housecleaning Tips for Bachelors
Published on Tuesday, 11 January 2011
It's a stereotype to associate the single man with a cluttered living space, and understandably so. Single men just don't seem to give an awful lot of time and attention to keeping their things organized. But this doesn't have to be the case. If you're a single man wondering how to keep your house clean, here are a few simple tips to help you out:
1. Clean as you go. Develop good habits, such as making sure that everything you want in the thrash actually finds its way inside the trash can, not just near it or around it. Don't keep anything that you don't have a use for, since it will take up space unnecessarily.
2. Set aside time every week to do a little maintenance and organizing work. There are some items that you may need to keep for a while, so you may have to pass over them for a couple of days or weeks. But by spending a little time every week to take stock of your housekeeping situation, you won't forget these things for long.
3. If major work needs to be done, schedule it. You may even want to convince your friends to help you out in your endeavour. Offer them free food and a movie, if it will help.
4. Don't cheat yourself. It may be tempting to just stuff everything in one of your closets or under your bed. This may be very convenient in the short run, and may make your place look clean and well maintained, but it won't solve any of your long term housekeeping problems. You'll only be delaying the inevitable work of thorough cleaning and organization.
