Tips in Maintaining Kitchen Cleanliness
Published on Saturday, 02 January 2010

The kitchen should always be clean. This is the place where we prepare our food everyday. If we are not sure of the cleanliness of the kitchen, we may also doubt the cleanliness of the food we eat. It goes hand in hand, a clean kitchen promotes a clean food and a clean food also ensures a healthy body.   How do we maintain the kitchen's cleanliness amidst all the house chore and workload we have? Time management may be the answer and you don't need to spend whole day just by cleaning your kitchen.   Regular Cleaning/ Washing   To avoid piling up of dishes, wash the dishes right after every meal. This may prevent germs from growing and you don't have to suffer seeing those piles of unwashed dishes in your sink. Unwashed dishes only add up to the clutter in your kitchen.   After you cook, you should wipe the stove with cloth and some washing liquid or better yet those cleaning products specially made for easy removal of greases. Same with the counter top, shelves and sink, wipe the surfaces after every use.   The kitchen utensils you used in cooking like the knife, cutting board, etc. should be washed after using. Pans used in frying should be soaked in water if you can't wash it immediately so that the greases on it will soften and will be easy to remove once you wash it.   Organising Other Kitchen Equipments   Another thing you have to consider in maintaining a clean kitchen is by checking if your other kitchen equipments are still working properly like ovens, toaster, refrigerator, etc. And although some of these equipments don't need to be washed daily, still make sure that it's always clean and spotless.   Inspect also the drawers, shelves and cabinets. Cockroaches and other pests may have been comfortably living in those areas without your knowledge. Once in a while clean those spaces especially the lower cabinets to prevent this from happening.   Sterilise all your kitchen and eating utensils. This is a sure way of ensuring germ-free utensils.   Put away or throw away the things that you will be not be using to give some space to those you really needed. And always make sure that all the bottles and other containers with the condiments, spices and the likes should be properly shut to avoid from mixing it with dust and dirt.
